Next Saturday Night/ New E.P. Release/ New Album

NEW ALBUM

So… Basically for the past 2 months we’ve buried ourselves in my apt and have been writing/ recording non stop. Last Tuesday we finally got a chance to sit down and listen back to all of the songs we’ve written (We record every writing session). And I know I’m in the band but I, personally, was baffled. Sometimes when you immerse yourself in something you lose sight of the over all picture. Not in a bad way, it can just be a little difficult to separate yourself and approach it objectively. When I was listening back I heard it as a listener as opposed to a player/ creator and was shocked at the material. Long story short we’ve got a killer album on our hands. We’ve narrowed it down to 18 songs that we are going to track. All of which (Except 3) are bran new. Now of course not all of these will make it but I dread the day we have to chisel it down because these 18 are all fantastic ideas. But who knows? Maybe it’ll be a double album.

Also, another exciting announcement is that founding member Tyke Calfee will be returning to collaborate on the new material. We are all really happy to have him back around and he will definitely add to the sound as he always did. So if you’re reading Tyke we’re super stoked!

NEW E.P.

As some of you already know we’re planning on releasing an E.P. at the end of October. There’s a slight chance it may be pushed back but we’re going to try to have something ready for everyone on Halloween. Even if we don’t have the full E.P. ready i’m sure we’ll be able to release a track and possibly some new artwork and photos. The new E.P. will contain all new original material. It’s sort of a B-Side comp. but not exactly. It’s songs we’ve had lying around that we really like but just don’t fit into the aesthetic of the new album. It will definitely be a good Fall/ Winter listen so keep an ear out for that for sure.

NEXT SATURDAY

I’ll be honest. This is the most stoked we’ve been to play a show in a while. This new material is just turning out so well. We’ve re-engineered the set to incorporate a healthy amount of the new songs we’ve been working on along with some old songs/ fan favorites we’d forgotten about. It’s going to be a really fun show so if you can make it it will definitely be worth your while whether your an old school fan or a newcomer. Anyway, I’m going to get back to this movie that’s been squealing in the background (The Thing). I hope you’re all having a great fall and look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Sleeping On The Floors Of Strangers: Volume 2

Hello again, everyone! It’s been a bit since we’ve caught up, hasn’t it? Like most of you, we’ve been enjoying the summer and taking some time to relax before we get back down to business.

We’ve been relatively quiet in terms of playing shows this summer. However, we did have the fine privilege of sharing the stage with Los Campesinos! and Yellow Ostrich at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC. It was a rush to play there and everyone there couldn’t have made us feel any more welcome than they already did. We’re looking forward to coming back that way someday, hopefully in the near future.

Speaking of the LS! gang, they were among the contributors to our remix EP that we released a little while back. A big thank you is in order to LS!, Today The Moon, Tomorrow The Sun, Tereu Tereu, Summer Dregs, Machines Are People Too, and Adam Staudacher(DJ Skinny ill) for all their hard work.

As for us? Right now we’re in the process of writing new songs for album number two. After months of ‘guerrilla recording’ in various locations, we’ve finally found a place to rehearse and flesh out some new ideas. I’m personally proud to say that we’re churning out some great stuff right now and have no doubt that we’re well on our way to making something really special. No idea when we’ll be done with it, but rest assured that it’ll be worth the wait.

Oh! Before I forget, a big shout out to LeighAnne Sloan for getting the first ever Moonlight Bride tattoo! You’ve definitely raised the bar. We’ll buy you a beer sometime.

I suppose that’s it for now. I’ve got guitars to play and cigarettes that aren’t gonna smoke themselves. Take care!

My god, where has this year gone?

2012 has been quite a productive year for us so far and there aren’t any signs of it slowing down anytime soon. In the past six months, we’ve released our newest music in nearly three years (Twin Lakes) and have played more shows than we have before. It truly has been an exciting time for us and right now, I’d like to share a few of my personal favorite memories so far from this year.

- SXSW
Before we went to SXSW, we had been on the road for a little over a week. We had just finished up a great run of shows with our awesome friends Tereu Tereu along the east coast, ending with an awesome show in Washington, D.C. From there, we were given the choice of either driving for 24 hours straight to get to Austin, TX or drive home, sleep in our beds for a few hours, and hit the road. We chose the latter and made it to Sealy, TX from Chattanooga, TN in around 16 hours. Ended up staying in one of the shittiest motels I’ve ever seen. This place just screamed “murder shack.” Our room was between one room that had been padlocked shut and another door…well, it wasn’t even a door. It was a piece of particle board being held in place with screwdriver jammed in the top corner of the doorway. I’d rather not touch base on how it looked on the inside. I’m sure you can use your imagination and come up with something colorful.

Arrived in Austin the next day and played our first show within an hour of arriving. From there, we were left with plenty of time to get lost within the sea of hipster Mardi Gras and get familiar with our surroundings. For three days, we were camped outside of a bar called Sputnik off of 6th Street. Ended up staying with our friends and local Chattanoogans Prophets & Kings for a couple of days in a nice little apartment somewhere. The feeling of that first shower after sleeping in the floor of a passenger van is indescribable.

Played one more show two days later and blew it out of the water. Big thanks goes out to Jersey, P&K, Today The Moon, Tomorrow The Sun, David and Mary, and Mr. Castlevania for making the Bayou Lounge feel like JJ’s. Seriously one of the best shows we’ve played in recent memory.

On a personal note, I got to meet Ryan Frederiksen from Narrows/These Arms Are Snakes after Narrows played a generator show on a bridge at nearly two in the morning. One of my favorite guitar players and it was really cool just shooting the shit with him. I wish it would’ve went smoother when I had the chance to talk to Tommy Stintson of The Replacements though. I kinda spazzed out, but he was nice and gave me some great words of encouragement over some potent whiskey drinks. It was just kinda hard to keep my cool while talking to someone who played in the friggin’ Replacements.

- ‘Twin Lakes’ release show:

What better way to celebrate a great run of shows than having a blowout in your hometown? It was a great night for everyone there. Young Orchids and CUSSES both put on amazing sets and it was great to see a lot of people I haven’t been able to see in a good while. I was actually a little nervous before we played, which hasn’t happened in quite some time. The show was great and everything seemed to go without any snags. Even the improvised interludes between songs flowed with ease. Just felt like a magical night for all of us.

- Chicago/Daytrotter:

This one was pretty recent actually. We left Chattanooga on a Monday night, slept in the can at a rest stop somewhere in Indiana, and arrived in Chicago around four in the afternoon the next day. We did a podcast for Fearless Radio at five and went to the Cobra Lounge around six. Found out while we were there that Naked Raygun practices somewhere upstairs in the building. Couldn’t help but soundcheck to ‘Vanilla Blue’ that night, haha!

The show itself was a lot of fun. Pretty decent turnout for a Tuesday night in a town we’ve never played before. Hell, half the crowd were singing along to the songs! We even had two people ask us why we didn’t play ‘Coal Miners’, a song we haven’t played in maybe two years. I dunno, I just thought it was a trip that people somewhere other than the South knew our stuff and knew it well. Maybe next time, Chicago.

Slept at another rest stop that night and traveled onward to Davenport, Iowa for our Daytrotter session the next day. Session went smoothly and three out of the four songs we recorded were first takes. The last one was maybe the second or third take…damn guitar kept going out of tune. Either way, it was a blast and I can’t wait to hear it.

From 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to 6:45 a.m. Thursday we drove home. Six states in nearly sixteen hours, only stopping for coffee and gas. Seeing the sunrise as we were getting into town was the icing on the cake for me. The whole trek felt like a fever dream. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.

I’d love to share some more stories, but that’ll be another day. Right now, we’ve got a record we need to finish. Good things are on the way, we can promise you that. Until next time, try not to have a heat stroke. Shit’s getting hot all over.

New Shows/ Recording Schedule

So we just announced a couple of new shows. One of those happens to be a Daytrotter Session which we’re really stoked about! Another is a one off hometown show with our great friend’s Today The Moon Tomorrow The Sun from ATL! Check all of that out at Moonlightbridemusic.com/tour.

The other thing we want to talk about is recording projects. We currently have 2 planned releases. 1 will be a re-mix E.P. which is sounding incredible already! The other will be an all original Self Recorded acoustic-ish E.P. which we’re putting the finishing touches on right now. So those should be out in the next couple of months.

All of this is of course is leading up to Album #2 which we are currently writing for. This next album is going to be a big one for us in a lot of ways. We’re pouring a lot of ourselves into it and can’t wait to get more information out to you. Either way we really appreciate all of the positive support and feedback we’re getting from Twin Lakes and are looking forward to all the things that are right around the corner.

Just want to say thanks for all of the support first off. We’ve gotten a lot of great feedback from The “Lemonade” video that Thomas Ramsay shot. Thomas is a very talented start up director and is currently holding a fund raiser to build income to work with us on future projects. If you have any money to donate towards the cause it would be much appreciated. If not and you like his work send him a message and let him know. He’s a great dude.

Hey all. Hope everything is well. I’m typing this from a venue in Myrtle Beach on my iPhone so forgive any awkward spacing or grammatical errors. We’ve met some amazing people out and about. Notably Kristin from Brooklyn. Ryan from DC, Shaina And Nicole from Myrtle Beach and definitely Neal from Baltimore. When I get back I will type our Baltimore story in it’s entirety. I’m still recovering/ having trouble believing it actually happened. Either way we’ve been lucky to share the stage with our friends the winter sounds every night. They are great people. And met some other great bands and industry people as well. We will be returning home in a couple of dates completing our two weeks. Although I’ll miss it, my own bed sounds incredibly appealing right now. So just want to say hello to all of our new friends and we love you to all of our current friends. Catch up with you soon

Moonlight in Exile

Been an interesting month…. I’m sure most everyone heard about our rehearsal space being broken into which was a complete bummer. We’re not only short the guitars we posted, we’re also short an iPod and a Gamecube (They’ll get a gobs of cash for that thing I’m sure), and most of all we’re short a rehearsal space.

We knew the time would come when we would have to leave we just hate that it’s under these circumstances. That has been our home since the beginning and anyone who went up there can attest to how rad it was. It will be missed.

However with death comes new life!!! We have been fortunate to have many friends on our side, one of whom is letting us rehearse temporarily at an undisclosed location. So that being said… If you or anyone you know has any ideas on practice spaces in the Chattanooga area please let us know! It would be much appreciated.

As far as everything else goes I have some exciting news about the E.P. that I can’t quite share yet. Just have to wait until a few more details are ironed out and we will make an official announcement. Until then I just want to say thanks so much for the support and we will see you very soon!

Hello,

Hope you’re doing well. This month has been a good one. The artwork and aesthetic of the project is coming together beautifully. The songs are solidified… Now all we need is mixing. SO CLOSE!!!

We have also been talking back and forth with various management and are heavily considering signing on with one soon. Almost there.

Our shows have been going incredible!!! And I really want to thank everyone for coming out and showing support. It really means a lot. I promise it won’t be too much longer until our new E.P. is finished. As I’ve said in the past this E.P. is meant as a complimentary piece to a full length album we’ve started work on. Crafting this E.P. to fit together with the full- length has taken some time but we have finally gotten it exactly how we want it. They share themes and ideas and the more it grows the more it all seems to make sense. Very exciting. Anyway none of this matters if you can’t hear it but I assure you it will be here sooner than you think.

And on a final note… some of you may have heard the rumor we were considering changing our name… This is true… However, after careful consideration we have decided against it. We are who we are and that’s it!

Anyway, As always… Thanks for the support and we look forward to everything that’s about to happen!!!

Hey all,

Hope all is well. I am happy to say everything is the best it’s ever been with us internally! After a long break to write and craft our sound it feels fantastic to get out and reconnect with everyone as well as make new connections! The shows we played this past weekend were exhilarating… especially being cheered for an encore as first band at The EARL!!! Good times!!!

Also want to mention we’ve added some folks to our lineup. Miss Winter Giamportone will be singing with us when she has the time. Her first show with us was at The EARL this past Saturday and needless to say it went over extremely well. Also, Mr. Dave Maki who helped produce “Myths” and played various instruments for us in the past has joined forces with us to be our new Bass guru.

Anyway, I just got the rough bounces back of our new E.P. this weekend and am beyond stoked! This release is going to be huge!!! We’ve got a lot planned in the near future including a video w/ Track 29, A gang of shows and as always…. WRITING!!! Check our facebook for updates our website is under construction and will be ready for the upcoming release!

Also let’s not forget to give a big thanks to CreatHere for the van. Without them this would not be possible!

Out Of The Studio and On To The Stage

This past month has been really exciting for us. We’ve started tracking sessions for our new, as of now untitled album. We’re tracking with Stephen Nichols at As Elyzum in St. Elmo. We’re back and forth with some producers right now. Not sure how that’s going to pan out but I’ll keep you posted. Don’t want to give too much away but I will say it’s turning out very noisy. Can’t wait to share!

Also would like to mention that we have some shows coming up. It will be a preliminary run to try some of the new material out. Our last studio day is booked for April 20th and our first show will be at JJ’s in Chattanooga on April 23rd. At the shows we will be selling a VERY limited run of Moonlight Bride T-shirts that we sold at SXSW. Since we have such a low quantity we will only be selling these at shows and not online.

Anyway once again thanks for all of the support and we’ll see everyone very soon!

SXSW/ RECORDING

Hey,

Quick update. (Amended to: Not So Quick)

First off we’re headed to SXSW next week! We’ll be playing the ATN Showcase Friday afternoon at the Bayou Lounge on 6th ST. We’re heading out early in the week to meet some people we’ve been talking to/ working with, Meet new people/ hang out, drink…etc.etc.etc.

We will be traveling in our new van we purchased courtesy of the Create Here Make work grant. We actually had to cancel 5 shows last year due to lack of transportation so once again hats off to you Create Here!

As soon as we return we will head into As Alyzum Studio (April 2nd) to start work on our new recording project… REAL WORK on our REAL NEW PROJECT!!! You might ask “Haven’t you guys been recording for like a year?” The answer in short is… YES!

We’ve been working on demos and pre-producing and the end result is 40 or so songs that need a home. Unfortunately not all of these songs will find a home. A lot of these songs will remain Idle. Reduced to muffled echoes that some may of heard whaling from an abandoned warehouse while driving through XXXX, Georgia on any random afternoon throughout the Summer and fall months of 2010. The Rest… tentatively titled PLATINUM HITS… should be available whenever we get around to releasing it. maybe soon, maybe not.

Anyway for those of you still reading more power to you… I’m definitely not.

First off! Found a van! Very excited about that!

Also, Just got the demos back. We’re going to let them make their rounds and are planning on releasing an E.P. in the spring as pre-cursor to an Album that will be ready by next fall.

We will be writing new material up until the last week of Feb. and then will start rehearsing for shows throughout March. The shows will begin in April and last until the beginning of June.

As soon as the shows are done we plan on heading into the studio to immediately begin work on the album.

Also want to say thanks for everyone who came out to our most recent shows. Glad we could share some of our new material with you and really appreciate the positive feedback. Look forward to more this spring.

Hey!

Update. We have touched up the mixes and will be getting them back any day now. we are very excited!

Still continuing to write and rehearse for shows. Thanks to all of those who came out last Saturday. That was pretty ridiculous!

The van hunt has come to an end… More on that later.

There will be an article coming out about us in the weekend edition of the Times Free Press this week (Jan. 14th). So check that out for some detailed info on our new writing sessions.

Hey Hope all is well

Right now we are awaiting the first mixes of our new demos that will comprise our next recording project. I caught a brief clip last week and i am beyond excited. We’ve spent the majority of the past month writing and recording at our rehearsal space and finishing up vocals at As Elyzum studios. Stephen Nichols will be mixing the new recordings.

We think we’ve found a van finally!!! So hopefully we’ll have it before the new year. Which will take a lot of stress off of us. CreateHere… I cannot thank you enough!

Also, Although we have finished the writing sessions for our new E.P. we are continuing to write for our upcoming L.P. that we plan to have ready for next summer. I have to say that although it’s just in the infantile stages I am more excited about working on this album than any recording project I’ve ever been a part of. We definitely have some good things coming up and can’t wait to share it when the time is right.

Either way, just want to say thanks for the support and have a happy holidays and we will definitely see you next year.
